Following a bid for Freeport status by Solent LEP – the Solent has been shortlisted by Government in its March 2021 budget.

The Government will create at least 10 Freeports across the UK to help drive Britain’s post-Brexit growth. They are areas designated by the government that will benefit from multiple incentives to encourage economic activity.

Dunsbury Park will form part of the Solent Freeport. With planning permission for the site permitting 665,000sq ft of bespoke warehouse, manufacturing and office space – and with excellent transport connectivity to both marine and road networks – the borough of Havant is ideally situated for businesses wishing to make the very best of this exceptional opportunity.

“I’m delighted to see the value – and potential – of the Solent has been recognised” said Councillor Michael Wilson, Leader of Havant Borough Council. “Achieving Freeport status unlocks new opportunities for our local businesses and reinforces our value as a national hub for global trade and investment. The inclusion of Dunsbury Park not only provides real opportunity for existing businesses to thrive but also helps regenerate the area with new investment, providing new jobs for our residents and helping them to prosper. The Freeport will provide an unique environment to embrace new trade, generate new jobs and deliver prosperity to the borough”.
